Homecoming for Lowrey at Waterford

September 18, 2007: Mark C. Lowrey, a Connecticut native, will be getting back to his roots this weekend at the Waterford Speedbowl's annual Finale race.
It's been almost over three years since Lowrey competed at the legendary Connecticut oval, but if his past performance is any indication of what to expect this weekend, then Lowrey and the Parker Racing Team should be in for a good day. Lowrey captured the checkered flag and his first AllStar Racetrucks win at his last Speedbowl appearance during the running of the 2004 Modified Nationals.
Although Lowrey has been spending most of his time behind the wheel turning laps on superspeedways ranging from Darlington to Daytona, he is just as comfortable racing at the quick 3/8 speedplant. "I've been spending a lot of time on the big tracks, so I'm pretty excited to get back to a short track. I can't wait to run door-to-door at the Speedbowl again."
This weekend's race will also mark the return of the Parker Racing Team to the AllStar Racetruck Series (ARTS) for the first time since 2004. "After running with ARTS for a long time, we decided to make a change in 2004 and 2005 when we switched to the American Canadian Tour and the Florida-based Pro Truck Series. We gained some valuable experience running with these tours on different tracks, and we can't wait to apply what we learned to racing with ARTS on some more familiar tracks", said former AllStar Racetrucks Champion and Team Manager Shawn Parker.
Parker and Crew Chief Bob Pierce have the utmost confidence in their 2003 ARTS Rookie of the Year driver going into this weekend's event. "Bob and I saw an extraordinary amount of natural talent in Mark from day one. And over the years we've seen Mark build on that talent by running both stock cars and open wheel cars on all kinds of different tracks. Without question, Mark has really matured as a driver over the last few years."
The Parker Racing team is looking forward to finishing out their 2007 season with the AllStar Racetruck Series. According to Parker, "Waterford will be our first race back with ARTS. If everything goes well, then we plan on finishing out the year with the tour at Twin State Speedway and Thompson Speedway". The excitement comes through in the team's expectations. "If we stay out of trouble, Mark may even be able bring home a checkered flag before the season is through", said a hopeful Parker.
Mark C. Lowrey and the Parker Racing Team will hit the track on Saturday, September 22 at the Waterford Speedbowl in Waterford, CT as part of the Town Fair Tire Finale race weekend. Please visit www.parkerracingteam.com for race results.
