Parker Racing Team was established twenty years ago by then owner/driver Ted Parker. Throughout the 1980's, the team competed in several divisions including V6 Supermodifieds, Pro Four Modifieds and Mini Stocks. During that time, Ted Parker won over 50 races and captured several V6 Supermodifed championships at Hudson Speedway in New Hampshire.
Ted's son Shawn Parker began driving for the team in 1994. Shawn began his driving career in V6 Supermodifieds, and then moved on to Late Model stock cars and eventually found a home in the All Star Racetruck Series. Although Ted Parker remains the car owner, Shawn has taken over all management and marketing duties for the team.
In his first full season behind the wheel of the truck, Shawn captured the 2000 American Racetrucks Series Northeast Region Championship. With the support of veteran Crew Chief Bob Pierce and father Ted Parker, Shawn successfully defended his championship in both 2001 and 2002, becoming the first person in the Northeast to capture 3 All Star Racetruck Series championships in a row.
Looking for a new challenge, Shawn put together a second truck and became a car owner for the first time in 2002. Alan Eastman competed as Shawn's teammate in the truck series, and won the 2002 Rookie of the Year title.
In 2003, the Parker Racing Team changed direction and began working with African American driver Mark C. Lowrey. The 2003 season was a successful one for Mark. He captured the Rookie of the Year title and finished a solid sixth place in the points, establishing himself as a top competitor by season's end.
In 2004 and 2005, the team ran limited schedules with Shawn Parker behind the wheel of an American Canadian Tour Late Model, and Mark C. Lowrey in the team's racetruck. The 2006 season will be much the same with a limited schedule for both drivers.
