Lowrey Takes Waterford Opener

March 30, 2004: Sophomore racer Mark Lowrey took down his first AllStar Racetrucks win at the Waterford Speedbowl opener this past weekend.

Lowrey’s first win did not come easily. After an unfortunate brush with the front stretch wall during the heat race, the # 1 racetruck sustained right side damage. The Parker Racing Team repaired the right side of the # 1 racetruck and had it back out for the feature race.

Lowrey was quick to compliment his team’s efforts after the checkered flag fell. “The race was won by the whole team. Everyone pulled together in the pits between races, and my Crew Chief, Bob Pierce, gave me a truck that was capable of running up front.” And that was just what the 2003 AllStar Racetrucks Rookie of the Year did.

After starting in the ninth position, Lowrey methodically worked his way through the field. After a late-race caution, he found himself on the front row of the ensuing restart. “The two leaders got together, and all of the sudden I found myself restarting on the outside pole.” According to an excited Lowrey, “I took the lead on the restart, rested my helmet on the headrest, and took a Saturday afternoon drive. It was great!”

Lowrey will be looking for another great finish when the AllStar Racetrucks make their first ever appearance at New Hampshire’s White Mountain Motorsports on Saturday, April 17. “If we all do our jobs, I see no reason why the Parker Racing Team will not continue to have great success.”

The Parker Racing Team competes in the ARTS - AllStar Race Truck division and has has established itself as one of the strongest ARTS truck racing teams in the northeast.
