No Longer a Rookie

January 21, 2004: No longer a rookie, Mark Lowrey is ready to take on his sophomore season behind the wheel with full force. Although it’s been almost three months since the final checkered flag of the 2003 season waved, Lowrey has been gearing up for 2004 all winter long.

After spending time with veteran NASCAR driver Buddy Baker at North Carolina’s Rockingham Motor Speedway in early December, the 2003 ARTS Rookie of the Year is more confident than ever. “Turning laps at 'The Rock' with Buddy Baker as my coach was an unbelievable experience. I learned a lot about my ability to adapt to a larger track and I felt very comfortable with the high speeds” said Lowrey.

Now with his first full season in the record books, the Parker Racing Team is looking for a strong start to

the upcoming season. According to teammate and team manager Shawn Parker, “Mark did a great job in his rookie season, and now has the experience he needs to consistently run at the front.” Parker also added that “Mark will no doubt be one of the toughest competitors in 2004.”

As opening day approaches, veteran Crew Chief Bob Pierce continues to work hard preparing both AllStar Racetrucks to do battle when the season gets underway this spring. Even though the Parker Racing Team has been very successful of the past few seasons, Pierce knows there is no such thing as certainty when it comes to racing. “Each year the competition gets tougher and running up front week after week gets harder to do.” said Pierce. “We will be working hard in the shop all winter long and will be ready to go once testing begins in March.”

The complete 2004 AllStar Racetrucks schedule will be released at the beginning of February.
